As performer and workshop leader at this exhibition curated by Unlock Dancing Plaza
This exhibition is an extension of a series of research workshops led by Joseph Lee, Lawrence Lau and myself at the Company’s Open Research Week focusing on the notations for Sound, Movement and Choreography. Since the completion of the workshop, we came together to develop scores as the base of performances.
Excerpt of the Curatorial Statement by Joseph Lee (Associate Artistic Director of Unlock Dancing Plaza)
“Unlock Dancing Plaza curated a two-week exhibition for "Our Living Library" - Moving Space(s)". The exhibit investigates the existence and representation of performing art and dance in space from the perspective of a dance company, as well as various possibilities of performance texts as the basis for cross-media artistic practice. It invites the viewers to discover the many facets of the performing body through varying installations, documents, and images. The exhibition consists of two main parts: "Lighting Spaces" and "Scoring Cycle - Movements, sound and space". This collaboration between media artists and performing arts artists, and Oi! Space has furthered the discovery on a spatial relationship between body and text.”
